So....What's a Senior Ambassador?
In 2010, I was an afterschool teacher who was walking back with her group from the library, when I saw some Yearbook Staff fumbling with their digital camera, trying to take pictures of a less than happy looking young fella.
They had him backed up against a locker, and at 6 feet, he was awkwardly posed like a mugshot waiting to happen, and these tiny young ladies were, quite literally, shooting the camera up his nose.
I recall these kinds of photos for those that missed picture day in my yearbook, and even in the late 80's, it screamed "loser for all eternity"
I quickly asked what they were doing, and the young man sheepishly said he hadn't turned in a senior picture and his parents couldn't afford them. The timeless tradition of the senior portrait had been outpriced for many years, a rite of passage impossible for many to afford, I quickly reacted...
I offered to take them, for free, outside where the gorgeous fall colors and trees provided a perfect setting. I had worked many years ago as a Sears Portrait Studio Manager, and while my career goal was teaching, it was a couple of years well spent with a ton of training poses and how to work with people.
He was happy, and I was happy, and I handed the camera back and went on with my day. About a week later, I started getting calls regarding my "Senior Pictures" and how much I should charge...I was floored...Me? Charge? So at first, I took tips, then $50...then after calls for families and weddings, I knew I might have something, and get serious, got insurance, and began the process of certification for a professional photographer.
In 2012, I left teaching to do Photography full time, and in 2014, I opened my studio.
To date, I have captured over 500 seniors, with all of their pets, friends, trucks, horses, hobbies and all over Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan.
To thank the very idea that began my successful career, I try to offer Senior Ambassadorship's to each school district I can, each year, free of charge to one deserving senior. This year, in my 15th year of Photography, I celebrate by offering 5 of these. Seniors need only fill out the form in the linked page below, and also be a Senior graduating in 2026. This wonderful award entitles the recipient a senior mini free of charge, and half off a full senior classic session if desired, to assist in affordability and also to help me get the word out about relocating to the Central Wisconsin Area. You'll represent my brand and help me get noticed-which is a win-win for us both.
I can't wait to meet you and your friends!
